Cost Effective Measures in Maintenance of Mental Health Treatments and Possible Alternative Therapies
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 7 page paper discussing cost effective measures in mental health treatment. The Surgeon General in the United States has issued a report which estimates that “one out of every five Americans suffers from some form of mental disorder with direct and indirect costs to society totaling nearly $200 billion a year”. In addition to the number of those considered affected by a mental health illness within the country, the range and diagnoses of mental health illnesses vary a great deal. While those with severe mental health conditions may be able to be “reliably” diagnosed and treated in the medical community, there are those who cannot afford medical mental health treatment as they may be uninsured and there are also those who may be less easily diagnosed or may be associated with mental disorders which relate to alcoholism and/or substance abuse therefore creating a large and diverse population in need of mental health care. The mental health community has also come to the realization that mental health care treatment costs are escalating while funding is not, resulting in mental health professionals seeking other more cost-effective treatments for their patients but treatments which must also maintain the effectiveness of traditional treatment as well. Since alternate treatments have been studied in the past decade, it has been found that while many alternative treatments are cost-effective, many are also as effective as traditional treatments and some have proven more-effective than traditional therapies.
Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Defining the Nursing Contribution to Patient Outcome
[ send me this paper ]
An 11 page exploration of the relationship which exists between nursing contribution and patient outcome. The author of this paper asserts a more and more predominant theme in nursing is the nurse’s one-on-one interaction with the patient and the consideration of such factors as culture and even spiritualism in patient care delivery. While at one time nursing was a discipline which concentrated primarily on the science of human anatomy and physiology, nursing has evolved to a discipline which recognizes not only the hard scientific facts of physiology but also the importance of psychological and sociological factors. Do Alternative Healing Devices -- Such As Those Offered By The Gentle Wind Project -- Aid In The Development Of Positive Approaches To Trauma And Stress?
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. Human beings have become so entangled within the limitations of mortal existence that few even realize, much less accept, the extent to which traumatic and stressful healing can take place resides far beyond the stringent realm of mortality's temporal state. That alternative healing devices, such as those developed by The Gentle Wind Project, have infiltrated an otherwise biased and unyielding global community where conventional medicine reigns supreme speaks volumes about the powers that exist outside of man's understanding. Healing is a complex transpiration and cannot be approached in a one-dimensional manner; rather, its multifaceted composition requires a comprehensive understanding of how the body, mind and spiritual existence work synergistically as a means by which to achieve this objective. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
