Bush’s Affirmative Action Views Help Hispanics
[ send me this paper ]
The first thing anyone will notice when observing the Bush White House and its Advisors is that it has color. Instead of talking about Affirmative Action, George W. Bush has included people of color on his actual consultant staff. Three names easily come to mind, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Alberto Gonzales, the latter his candidate for the Supreme Court Justice position. When Bush is on TV, the good ole white boy club is visually gone. His advisors are an example of what Bush refers to as “affirmative access,” his replacement for Affirmative Action. It’s the President’s method, lived by example, of providing racial integration that, in practice, far exceeds any claim in support of equal access under the unsuccessful Affirmative Action program. In light of Bush’s nature to take action, his Administration has gone further than any other White House in support of the Hispanic community. 5 works cited. jvBushAA.rtf

Business, No Model for Government
[ send me this paper ]
Without checks and balances through layered systems of governance, anyone with adequate money, power and resources could run roughshod over his competition, annihilate it, and assume the position of power. This has been the case in third world countries, and it has also been the basis of historic capitalistic endeavors, including those serving the politics of Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler, to name two. For this reason, application of business strategy is undeniably the most dangerous consideration for any government. No sources. jvNoBizg.rtf

C.B. Macpherson's 'Life And Times Of Liberal Democracy'
[ send me this paper ]
C. B. Macpherson's critique of the concept of liberal democratic ideals is based primarily on the assignment of equality over liberty. The prioritization can be either implicit or explicit, but is a very real part of the democratic process, which was an outgrowth of market economics. The necessity of promoting competition is described as a liberal state that eventually evolved into the concepts of democratic radicalism. Macpherson proposes the revision of the liberal democratic ideals to include components of Marxist thought. This 5 page paper examines his arguments and concludes that the reader, after reading the book, The Life and Times of Liberal Democracy, will be able to gain access to some very logical insights that are very strong in their persuasive powers. No additional sources cited.

California : Impact Of The Women's Movement In Relation To Political Participation
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Turn-of-the-century California politics has changed in many ways in comparison to contemporary politics, particularly with regard to the women's movement. Indeed, women's suffrage presented itself in quite fearless style as the country moved into the twentieth century, inasmuch as the women's movement had gained a significant amount of progressive power. The impact of such a movement was more than a bit alarming for those who did not believe women should maintain such important responsibilities as voting and political participation. Fast-forward to the twenty-first century, however, and one can readily argue that the women's movement of one hundred years ago set the stage for the overwhelming support and presence the California political system now maintains. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
